Proper riding attire when you come in for your riding lessons / riding activities.

Most of us does not taking it seriously regarding what to wear when engaging in horse riding and its related activities.

This time I would like to suggest that each and everyone of our members to wear proper attire when they come for riding at Ekuestrian Sarawak. Just a simple but should be considered proper way of dressing / wearing attire. No more wearing short pants and slippers, please!

The proper way of wearing a riding helmet is as below :

What shoes to wear ? I would recommend you to ride with a pair of riding boot if you have one but if you do not, you should at least get a pair of shoes with heels and get a pair of chap.

                                                          Rider wearing a boot.

                                                                      Ankle boot / shoe

                                                                         Ankle boot

                                                                              Chap

This is how you wear the chap with an ankle boot/shoe.

So now we go to what type of shirt and trousers to use. For the shirt, I would choose the one that is comfortable for example a nicely fit T-Shirt. Not too small, too big or oversize. We used to see from the photos or magazines that riders wears jackets, thick clothing or suits but we must remember that their cold climates may be the factor or they were in the competitions or shows. So, here in our climate just wear your nicely fit shirts (T-Shirts, Polo for example).

For the trousers, get the jodhpurs if you can afford to have one. Its quite pricey but not too expensive and it is very useful & comfortable for riding. Stretchable jeans / trousers are just OK for occasional riding. Trousers should be made from materials/textiles that are slippery and too thin.

                                                              Riding breeches or jodhpurs

Safety vest/jacket is also desirable item to have if you ride regularly. Some riders prefer to wear gloves while others like me prefer my bare hands without gloves.

Ada juga yang mengaitkan kuda dengan lumba kuda professional yang dikaitan pula pada ...

Learn To Read A Horse

If you can learn to 'read' a horse, nothing he does will ever surprise you again. You’ll be able to predict how a horse is going to react, when and why. Reading a horse’s body language can help you understand his mind. The information conveyed through a horse’s body language can unlock the mystery of horses and enable you to recognize when a horse might run off, run over you, buck, kick, strike, get worried, frightened, defensive, bad tempered, or bored. With body language you should do as little as possible, but be precise and deliberate with every motion. Everything you do means something and the horse is always reacting to your body language- what he can see and what he can sense. Reading the horse’s body language is a critically important skill to develop. It will keep you safer because you will know the horse’s tendencies and intentions and you’ll achieve better results because you will have a more sensitive approach and better timing. In order to make improvement...
